Finding a birth or baptism date in the archives


Before starting your research, here's a quick reminder: records about individuals are divided into two main registers.


- First, the parish registers (between 1539 and 1792) in which baptism, marriage, and burial records are recorded.


- Then, the civil status registers (since 1792) in which birth, civil marriage, and death records are recorded.
