Genealogy is more than historical research: it's a journey through your family's history to discover together.

How to Create Your Family Genealogy Tree Together?

Creating your genealogy as a family will bring generations together and uncover unique stories!

With Geneafinder, turn this quest into a moment of sharing and family discoveries, even from a distance.

Why Create a Family Genealogy Tree?

Creating a genealogy tree together as a family has many advantages:

- Strengthen your family bonds - because genealogy brings all generations together, from grandparents to the youngest, and allows you to share unique moments.

- Pass down your family history - because each family member has anecdotes, memories, documents, and life stories that will enrich your genealogical research.

- Preserve your memory - because documenting your family history allows you to pass on a precious heritage to future generations.

Key Steps to Create Your Family Genealogy Tree

1. Prepare Your Family Project

Do you want to establish your genealogy and find your ancestors together? Organize a family meeting to start the project. You can define your research goals, divide tasks, and motivate each other.

This is also the time to designate a coordinator, the person who will be responsible for your family data and who will be the owner of your Family account on Geneafinder.

2. Collect Initial Information and Memories

Everyone's memories and family archive documents are treasures not to be neglected. Take advantage of this project start to contact and interview the family elders, to gather documents (photo albums, acts, family records...).

You can digitize all these archives and import them into the Geneafinder Gallery. This Gallery can be shared with all members of your Family Team. Everyone can add documents and enrich them with family annotations and anecdotes.

3. Create a Family Team on Geneafinder

With a Family account, Geneafinder provides you with powerful tools to facilitate your research and ensure the sharing of your genealogy and memories.

Here's how to create a Family account on Geneafinder:

1) Define who will be the owner of the Family account. This person must create an account on Geneafinder and then subscribe to the Family plan, which allows unlimited sharing of the tree and gallery.

2) The owner of the Family account can invite as many family members as they wish: - To do this, from the dashboard, click on the useful link "Team Management". - Then click on the "Create a Team" button. - Fill in the team name and motto. - Create a branch to share - you can share the entire tree or just a branch starting from a root person. - Choose the folders in your gallery to share. - Add members by entering their email address and role (viewer or editor), then click Add. Each invited member will receive an email inviting them to join your team (they will be invited to create a free account on Geneafinder). - Click Save.

Our Tips for a Successful Family Genealogy:

Be methodical: agree on a work method and annotation of sources and stick to it.

- Define rules: to trust what other team members will do, define the fundamental rules for your genealogy (verify sources in archives, add the archive to the gallery...).

- Communicate and take a step back: genealogy should remain a pleasure (especially as a family!), ask for help when you need it...
