The Tarn-et-Garonne department is located in the Occitanie region. It was created in 1808, under the reign of Napoleon I, from territories of the Lot of the Haute-Garonne,  of the Lot-et-Garonne,  of the Gers  and of the Aveyron. It is adjacent to these same departments.

Tarn-et-Garonne is the smallest department in the Occitanie region. It is crossed by several rivers, including the Tarn and Garonne, which have favored the development of agriculture and commerce in the region.
