To start your research in Malta
The National Archives website highlights the country's participation in the Archives Portal Europe project, but thorough research on this site gives us no indication of useful archives.
You can contact the national archives (Arkivji Nazzjonali ta' Malta) by email (customercare.archives@gov.mt), by phone (00356 2145-9863) or by mail (Head Office, Hospital Street, RBT 1043 Rabat - Malta).
To obtain civil records, you may need to visit in person. Records after 1863 are kept at the L.Insinwa Registru Publiku (26 Lucia street, Valletta) and access is fee-based. You can also request extracts by mail, provided your request is specific.
For parish records, you should directly contact the parishes.
