The Val-d'Oise department was created in 1968 after the dismemberment of the Seine-et-Oise department. It is bordering the departments of the Oise, of the Seine-et-Marne, of the Seine-Saint-Denis, of the Hauts-de-Seine, of the Yvelines and of the Eure.
