For easy construction and visualization of your online genealogical tree

Easy and private genealogy on Geneafinder : our innovative and secure tools save you time in building your genealogical tree and researching your ancestors in archives.
From your dashboard, click on the "View Tree" button to access your genealogical tree, its branches and leaves (aka the individuals in the tree).

Once on your tree, you can, thanks to the left buttons: - change the tree's orientation - manage visualization parameters - recenter the view on your root person - zoom out - zoom in - tighten or loosen the links
By clicking on the "Parameters" button, you can choose which person in your tree will be your root person (the starting point of your tree - it can be changed at any time), the display order of ascending couples, the reading direction of your tree (its orientation, which you can also change using the left button), and the number of generations to display for a global or more centered view.
You can easily navigate in your tree using your mouse to zoom and move around by clicking and dragging on the tree. You can also find an individual using the search bar on the right. You can also navigate from generation to generation by double-clicking on a person, who will temporarily become the root of your tree view.
Individuals of the same generation are on the same horizontal or vertical line, depending on the chosen orientation.
Geneafinder wants to offer you features to help you better organize your genealogy. The 3 colors visible on your genealogical tree are not chosen randomly.
Indeed, as in the list of people in your tree, this color code allows you to quickly see the people you need to focus your research on and add new events.
The individual will be displayed in green if you have provided:
- Their name (even a "?"), first name, and gender
- Information about their birth
- Information about their marriage
- Information about their death
The individual will be displayed in yellow/orange if you have provided:
- Their name (even a "?"), first name, and gender
- Information about their birth AND/OR
- Information about their marriage AND/OR
- Information about their death
The individual will be displayed in red if you have provided nothing, except their name and first name.
By clicking on an individual, you will find in the right sidebar of your screen, a summary of information and events about them.
You can easily add, modify, or delete this information by clicking on the Pencil icon that appears above their leaf.
You can also click on the Quick Add boxes at the end of a branch, which allow you to add a child link, a spouse link, or a parent link. By clicking on it, the input window opens and you can add new information. Don't forget to save the card!
