New date converter, quick event addition, quick place entry, a new orientation for your tree, and 10 new databases added to our search engine!

The entire Geneafinder team wishes you excellent holiday season! And as a gift to conclude our 2021 Advent calendar, we have just put online 5 new improvements to our free features ❤️
Long-awaited, this date converter will help you with entering your ancestors' events! You can easily navigate between dates in the Gregorian and Republican calendars. To do this, in your input area, enter a date and click on the "convert" icon. You can thus choose which date format will be displayed in your tree (Republican or Gregorian).
We save you time with the quick addition of events! In one click, add a birth, marriage, or death to an individual's file in your tree. A good way to also spot at a glance which basic event(s) you still need to find in the archives.
For reminder, by clicking on the dropdown menu Choose an event to add, you have access to about forty different events to fill in your ancestors' life records!
No more entering all the place fields one by one! Now, enter the name of a municipality and click on it in the dropdown menu (which you can scroll with your mouse). The municipality, the beginning of the postal code, the department, the region, and the country will be automatically entered! Thus, you save time in your entry and limit the risk of place or spelling errors.
However, if you don't find the municipality in our database or if you want to use a different spelling, you can fill in the fields manually.
Now you have the choice! Do you prefer a horizontal or vertical tree? Feel free to choose the view that suits you best to navigate at the heart of your genealogical tree and its branches by clicking on the icon at the top left of the viewer.
For reminder, the color code is not random! It helps you organize your research. Indeed: a green individual = you have found their birth, marriage, and death - a yellow individual = you have found at least two of these events - a red individual = you are missing a lot of information. Thus, you know where to (re)start your genealogical research!
Our name search engine allows you to search for an ancestor in the genealogical or historical databases available on the web. We have added descriptions for each site as well as a dozen databases to fuel your research: digital libraries like Cairn or Persée in which there may be articles about your ancestors, foreign genealogical databases like for Quebec or Belgium, cemetery records, or military records.
For reminder, enter your ancestor's name, we do the search for you on this thirty sites. Click on the site where you think you might find information. Note that we do not bypass the access restrictions to some paid sites.
To access these improvements and features, go to your Geneafinder workspace! And if you don't have an account, sign up for free - our basic tools are free and unlimited, and they will remain so.
